Samip Paudel
I'm a student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science and Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science at Vassar College. I'm interested in applying principles from these subjects to gain understanding into problems in AI and robotics. This website contains a small collection of things that I've done relevant to these disciplines; it is also a place for me to share my thoughts and ideas. Apart from this website, you can also find me on other platforms below.
Blog
The name of my blog is Inversion. I'm working to add more stuff soon. You can find all of my writings indexed by year here when I add more posts. Stay tuned!
Works
The following are writeups of some of my projects. I've tried to write this in a way that makes it easy and accessible to a wide audience. My goal with these writeups is to a) share my work with the world, and b) practice writing and communicating my ideas in a way that is easy to understand and follow. If you find something interesting or want to get in touch, please feel free to reach out to me.
- HARPER Project At Vassar IRRL, we are working on developing an upper body for a low-cost 3D printed humanoid robot, HARPER. In that effort, currently, I'm developing the control system and experimenting with AI-based learning approaches to make HARPER's arm useful. Previously, I worked on designing a 3-DOF serially-linked shoulder module.
- Flow Developing web-based experiments is a difficult task for researchers who have little to no web development experience. To help them build experiments effectively and efficiently, I'm working to develop AI-based tooling within the jsPsych ecosystem.
- Mercury During Series Hax, my teammate and I built an iMessage extension that helps you write better by giving AI-based suggestions. I learnt to use Apache Kafka for distributed event streaming, and developed the Python-based backend for it.
